An Uphill Climb….Lead From Within You

Have you ever accidentally knocked over an anthill that seemed to be growing in the middle of your child’s sandbox. You both enjoyed watching the critters scamper to rebuild, piece by piece.

They would carry sand crystals twice or three times the size of their body and crawl it quickly into the opening of the tiny cave below. Barely taking time to worry about the other ants nearby doing just the same.

They had no one leader ordering them in line or giving instructions. It was as if this was written in their DNA from the day they were hatched from their egg and left the safety and security of the queen.

Here we all are, at the end of yet another week, another quarter, an election, and we are up in arms. We are elated with joy our candidate won, or depressed and distraught over the loss of one we has such high hopes for.

We invested so much time and raised money. We ran ads and knocked on doors. We planned, we tested the waters and listened to constituents. We tried to get our message out that would move and convince enough to support our ideas and lead them to believe we were promoting the best person to do the job they needed to get done.

Of course, I really did not do any of these things. I helped no candidate but to post about them and spew my love for God and country.

People have lost faith in each other. Slogans and banner waving don’t get our attention enough. Too many empty promises have been wasted. What difference does it make anyway? Who cares what I think?

But, this is the world we live in. There are always winners and loosers. Maybe I have been hanging around too many loosers. Maybe my attitude has just been that of a looser.

I need to pick myself up and check my surroundings and who are those voices I have been listening too afterall? I do love politics, yet, does it have to be so hopeless?

There are no real positive stories on the news we share. It is always some tragedy. I need to find people that inspire me. Overcomers. People who have been through adversity yet insist they have nothing to complain about.

Pure joy! Where are the joyful in our world today? At one time….they were babies….at one time…..that was me….looking up at my own mother’s smile. I think it is all God asks of each of us…..just….share love. A smile is love in it’s purest form. Unconditional acceptance of you!

Now retired from my sewing business yet all about the business of serving my family and creating things to sell in my store. I love to have some purpose left in me. I hope I can encourage others and bring the light of Jesus most of all to this dark world.
