Better to Give What Little You Have, than Keep It

Three words describe me best. Christ follower, patriot and student. All three are important to me and gives me my purpose in the times in which we live. God, country and always learning gives me something to work toward and contribute to.

If you are not working toward something, you are either stagnant, or working away from something. Do you keep all you have to yourself? Do you share, contribute or donate to a charitable cause that will outlive your legacy? Are you a hoarder, greedy, stingy…especially this time of year? Do you think of others or judge them for not thinking of you?

It is not possible to always just be taking things in. Eventually, something must be released as a result of what you absorbed. If not, you may get sick…..physically, mentally or emotionally, in my opinion. Even a baby expels things one way or another if there is too much of it put into baby. I don’t think I need to explain what I mean in graphic detail here.

Too much of anything does not assure happiness or contentment. Ask the most famous celebrities among us. How many millionaires have died in poverty? How many celebrities are sick of the paparazzi chasing them, the flashing cameras, and wish they had some privacy?

You can listen to a lot of music and even if you can’t hold a tune, you will find yourself humming or tapping or whistling to some of what you can recall. Too much screen time and you will reap a stiffened neck, sore eyes, or complete utter boredom or lonesomeness for a live human being or voice. We are not immune to the effects of anything we take in or take from someone. Every action causes a reaction.

If the things we choose to do with our lives, is for our good…we will grow and mature to benefit our own self and others. If it is harmful to us it will make us sick or angry or worse. It will cause us to become less of a person that was created to glorify God the Father in heaven. It will lead to destruction of our own self or others.

I know people who have become, or have always been, perhaps, a recluse. One being my own family member. How much alone time can one really enjoy. Quite a bit if you are a recluse, yet, this member writes love poems and displays romantic art and they have a partner, although no commitment for marriage. Even a recluse needs some sort of way to share what life is teaching them. It is human nature to need each other. We all just have our limits and our boundaries that we set, that can’t be crossed.

God does not ask us to give all that we have away. He does not ask us to offer up all our time and talents to others. He wants us to enjoy our gifts but He knows that the more we give and do for others, we will heap up more in return.

God blesses the giving heart. The widows coin is a story we can recall as the greatest gift. Jesus watched as people were putting money into the temple offering. A poor widow put in two small copper coins worth only a few cents. It was all she had. Everyone else gave out of the abundance they already had. (Mark 12: 41-44)

Christ left his heavenly home to come and become like us in human form. What a gift! He could have stayed in the safety and security in heaven with His Father and the Holy Spirit and all the angels. If he did, we would not have Christmas. We would not have the chance to be with him one day in heaven because of why he came to us. To pay our price for sin on the cross. He came….He died….He rose…so we could in turn, do the same, through Him!

He has felt pain and sorrow just as we do. The situations and circumstances may be different, yet, he can relate to anything you are going through. He is alive and now resides on his throne in heaven and in each heart that has welcomed him into their lives. He gives and takes away.

He gives life and takes away sin. Our God knows about put and take…in and out….blessings and curses. You can’t have one without the other. If there was nothing to curse, where would be the blessings?

We have all had heartache, lost loved ones, or have been disappointed in some way. In turn… time heals all wounds….low and behold….there was a blessing. You may not have known it or seen it. It was there. In due time, you will look back on life and see it for what God intended. Aaaahhh….there was the “blessing” you will say.

God always knows what is best for each one of us.
O Come, O Come Emmanuel!
God is with us!

THAT is your blessing you can believe and hold on to. But it is for everyone….you must
pass it on. Share the good news with someone. So many are lost but God has given us a great light. A LIGHT to share with all humankind. That light is Jesus.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1: 1-5)

I like to write for the pure enjoyment of writing short excerpts about life in general. I would want my writing to bring inspiration or encouragement to the faint-hearted or those looking for some direction, purpose, or meaning. I am searching daily for what it is God wants me to do and who he wants me to become. It is a growing pain for me. We all have something new we can learn and share with others.
